Chinese as a Foreign Language

CFL

  • The goals for the class are to be educational in an encouraging and fun environment. The curriculum is compiled by referring to children psychological development theories. In order to facilitate learning, the class will focus especially on interactive teaching. The teacher will use Mandarin and English to communicate and guide students in learning basic and applicable conversations. Teachers will lead students with singing, games, drawings, and other activities.

  • Our Curriculum integrates fundamental language skills, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in a balanced and comprehensive manner. 

    The methodology allows students to practice and apply what they learn in a practical context. From everyday conversations to more complex grammar structures and vocabulary, our CFL classes cover a wide range of topics and language semantics to enhance the language development experience for the students.

    We utilize interactive activities, multimedia materials, language games, and authentic texts to enhance students’ understanding and retention of the language.

Sibling Discount

Each sibling (starting from second child): -$20

  1. Fall semester class begins on 8/23/2026; Spring semester class begins on 1/10/2027.

  2. Late fee of $25 will be incurred after 9/13/2026 for returning students. Textbooks will be issued after tuition is paid in full.

  3. Please make the check payable to Naperville Chinese School. Please include the student's name and class in the memo and mail it to:

  4. $25 service fee will be accessed for any returned check.

  5. Payment can also be made via Zelle/QuickPay. Please include student's name and class in the memo. School account is ncschoolpay@gmail.com.

  6. Full refund if requested before 8/23/2026. After 8/24/2026, refund will be processed minus $20 processing fee. No refund after 9/13/2026 for Fall semester and after 1/24/2027 for Spring semester. See Withdrawal Policy.

  7. The success of NCS functions and activities depends on volunteer work by all member families. Parents of enrolled students are required to assist NCS in operations through the Service Point Program. Member families earn points for service rendered and a $100 deposit must be submitted at registration. 20 Service Points per family. There will be a fee of $5 per unfulfilled point for each family.

  • • Learn Mandarin Chinese pronunciation in Pin Yin system.

    • Encourage simple, basic, and applicable conversations.

    • Learn to recognize Chinese characters as needed.

    • Learn conversation with topics related to students’ immediate world.

    • Touch on culture related subjects, e.g. holidays, festivals, cuisine, etc…

    • Develop proficiency in listening and speaking Mandarin Chinese.

    • The essential emphasis is on pronunciation accuracy and responsive communication.
